Hi all,

I know how to send an email through php.

However I am not that familiar with the joomla framework and wonder if there is a function to send an email to a user by id or username or email address or by user group.
joomlasendemail(42,"Hi there","You have won ...");

No such thing, unless an extension created it. Joomla uses PHPMailer. Look at libraries/phpmailer/phpmailer.php and libraries/joomla/mail/mail.php
