Neu für was? -> Konfiguration->Server

in Joomla 1.7.3 sehe ich neu bei:
Konfiguration->Server->Fehler berichten
im Drop-Down-Menü zusätzlich zu Standard, Keine, Einfach, Maximum -> Entwicklung

Wozu ist das und wie kann ich das nutzen?

Wenn du "Entwicklung" einstellst wird error_reporting(-1) verwendet, was bedeutet das jeder Fehler gezeigt wird, auch neue Konstanten/Levels die eventuell in einer neueren php Version dazu kommen werden gezeigt.
Ab php6 verhält sich E_ALL genauso
