I'm trying to do two things, but both are essentially the same problem.
1- put a slider on the right side of the logo
2- put the horizontal menu and the social buttons on one line

I was originally trying to do this with the positions already in Beez20 but it was suggested I make new ones. I've managed to create 2 new module positions (I can see them with ?tp=1), but still can't work out how to make them sit on the same line, and I've obviously missed something basic, as the modules I put in them aren't showing up on the page!!

The page I'm using to learn on is http://www.agoodsitebetter.com/index.php.
It's changing pretty often at the moment, (I learn by trial and error a lot), but this is basically what I'm aiming to achieve in the end:

I've tried reading all the Joomla articles I can find on the subject, but as a complete beginner, they tend to be too much for me to understand. If somebody would be so kind as to explain it to me or show me how to do it, I'd be very grateful. =)

Thanks for reading!

edit: I've managed to get them to sit to the extreme left and right of one line by using "float:", but still can't work out what I'm missing to make them show up. I suspect I'm putting css in the wrong place (and/or using the wrong css!!) just for starters, but I'm pretty well lost!!

I've been trying to sort this out for days (its feeling like weeks now!!) and I went through all the tutorials and everything google had to offer first. Firebug doesnt help me because the code doesn't exist for me to look at until I find out how to put it in! Its a bit of a vicious circle (and highly frustrating) - I cant understand it til i can see it, and I cant see it til I can write it.
But thanks for the suggestion anyway :)
