Hopefully it is understood by the staff at volunteers.joomla.org that people will be using [email protected] and the like for their email addresses for the foreseeable future... greatly reducing the value of these profiles in the short term.

None of the contact info you enter on the site is displayed to unauthenticated users. What is the value in obscuring e-mails to folks who already have to go through the registration process to even see that info?

A registration effort, is no effort at all. All successful social sites, regardless of niche, eventually start taking on accounts/profiles that spammers are paid to create and use. Lots and lots of people get paid to do that all day long. It very quickly becomes about half of the average (successful) site's user base.

Since the forums have already been undergoing that activity for years, people will drool at the chance to find email addresses shown at a related site full of influencers.

i asked the similar question to [face plamed person] and was assured that it was not going to happen and all users who register on that site are checked <?>.

Someone did indeed click a link to my site from volunteers after I posted this message, but they only viewed one page... nobody contacted me... I wouldn't call that a thorough check at all. Meanwhile I am currently able to see all the email addresses for all of the Joomlers.

So, someone might have SAID they were going to check and prevent this...
