403 posting to forum... VOLUNTEER SMASH!

Post by NathanHawks » Tue Mar 31, 2015 2:56 am

Please start telling people what word or character they have posted that's triggering the 403s, OR publish a complete list of what triggers the spam trap.

This is a massive insult to your volunteers every time we are forced to spend 30 minutes trying to find the sequence of characters you want us to remove.

It makes me just want to throw my hands in the air and abandon threads after I have already written the answer to their problem.

PS: In fact, my new policy is simply to tell users in these cases that I cannot help them unless they engage with me directly via email, due to forum policies outside my control. That is the only way that is both sane and possible after seeing this 403. I don't know who you think has the time, and the absolute lack of self-respect required, to play guessing games like this but I can tell you this... if I didn't absolutely NEED to provide support to people on this forum in order to make a living, I would simply quit offering to help people at this point due to the absurdity of you asking us to play guessing games like this. Can I please email someone in charge of the forums a copy of my "objectionable" message so that YOU can beat someone over the head with it until this operational insult is no more?

We have investigated your issue with 403 errors.
It was not caused by the anti spam measures of this forum itself.

It appeared that a server module, mod_security, caused 403 errors on certain words.
We have had it changed a bit so that those errors should be gone now.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Still getting errors when adding certain HTML tags (e.g. <s-c-r-i-p-t>), even in a CODE block.

Pe7er --- wacky! No wonder it was hard to track down (this isn't my first time hulking out over it).

THANK YOU.

But it didn't fix it. I still get the 403 trying to post a perfectly benign support response.
