Re: Discuss about JTS-post Assistant
I just tried jts-post-en-10.php AND jts-post.php on Joomla 1.5.17 and got the following error:
The Joomla! version was not recognised, or we were unable to find the appropriate "version" file.
Is there a version that works with ....17 ?

RussW- can you look at the extended info coding
it prints a double prefix making the link unuseable<td class="vflist" style="border-top: 1px solid rgb(192, 192, 192); border-bottom: 1px solid rgb(192, 192, 192);" width="27%"> <a href="http://http://www.joomlaworks.gr" target="_new">http://www.joomlaworks.gr</a></td>

can you test this file - extract the zip to your server root path.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

what do you mean by 'but I've moved on..." - is there a possibility to 'by pass' this message and obtain other details about the system setup?

Re: Discuss about JTS-post Assistant
That WAS kinda vague.
My apologies.
What I meant was that since I was not having any luck with what I was trying to do, I re-imaged the server and started from scratch with a recent Joomlapack .jpa file (pre 1.5.17), installed the JTS Post assistant, gathered the information I needed after the restore to 1.5.15, from JTSPA, modified files as suggested, then proceeded with my Joomla update to 1.5.17 and deleted JTSPA.

Nice tools and I am just playing with it.
One question: It may be novice. Does this tools diagnosis my joomla site or just pick up the joomla and system information only?
Happy to hear from you guys!

Re: Discuss about JTS-post Assistant
The JTS-post utility is designed purely to provide and "pre-format" a post for the forum containing some of the technical information that is sometimes needed to help diagnose a problem, but for many people they don't know how to find it or what is meant when asked for it.
There are a couple of "diagnostic" style tools to assist with determining problems and reporting them back to the user, these can be found in the Joomla! Extensions Directory (JED) at http://extensions.joomla.org/ all though a little out of date, the parent tool to JTS-post is "Joomla Tools Suite" which provides more help with solving issues before they happen.

Re: Discuss about JTS-post Assistant
I kind of feel like a MF idiot, for posting a question to a thread that almost certainly contains the answer, already....uh, somewhere in there. It's not that I'm lazy, I just literally get a headache after reading code for too long, because it's not whatsoever comprehensive, and it's a lot like reading math equations, only if all the numbers were replaced with words (no, not like word problems...those actually tell a logical story).
Aaaaanyway, I hope someone can help me, here. This certainly seems like the go-to spot for session path and PHP errors. Plus, it is because I recently downloaded the wicked helpful Jt extension, that I was finally able to see what has been plaguing me (the admin.) for as long as I've been using Joomla!.
Please, God, I hope someone answers my post, because I've tried asking this question (in so many words), across all kinds of different forums and threads. Nobody has helped me so far, but perhaps that's because I couldn't yet effectively describe the problem.
The "umbrella" problem has always been this: I have never had access to my HTML/PHP content files, since I started building my website. The only way I was ever able to state the problem to anyone before now, was by saying "I don't know where my coded content lives. Where are my articles hiding out, at the root (not at the backend)? How am I supposed to tidy the code of module X, when I have no access to its PHP files?"
Nobody could help me. But now I realize (or I think I realize) that I am being restricted by the DB. And I'm also missing at least one file, which I presume is of some importance--it's the Joomla administrator .htaccess file. I have the other one at the html root, but apparently I need one in the admin directory, too. I have no idea where this file went/ is/ got deleted from, but it's not there.
Here are the other diagnostics, which I thought might represent issues, and in no particular order:
Session Directory = Unwritable
Open Base Drive = None
Session Save Path = None
Virtual Directory Support = Off
allow_url_include = Off
always_pop_raw_post_data = Off
expose_PHP = Off
safe_mode_gid = Off
allow_call_time_pass_reference = Off
asp_tags = Off
define_systemlog_variables = Off
register_globals = Off
register_globals_argv = Off
register_long_arrays = Off
zend.ze1_compatibility_mode = Off
Basically, I copied everything on the screen was in the "Off" position---that's what I posted above. I guess I sort of assumed that I should pay closer attention to the "Off" functions, rather than the one's that are still operational.
I would just really love to have real control over the content on my website. While it's worked out okay so far, I'm now starting to put out HTML validation errors, which are so frustrating, because I have NO WAY to fix them. Help, help, help! Pallleaze!

Re: Discuss about JTS-post Assistant
Please open your own thread for your own problem ( refer Forum Rules http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=271663 ) This thread is about a support tool named JTS.
In your next post, might I suggest a few things, be sub-sync, describe the perceived problem, not all the other symptoms and unfortunately your plan of only concentrating on the PHP "Off" messages is not particularly correct, for example register_globals being off is a great thing and a good security measure , but the session directory being unset will give you problems.
Please run the following tool and paste the output (after describing your problem) in your new post. ( http://forum.joomla.org/download/file.php?id=70500 )

Re: Discuss about JTS-post Assistant (I Apologize)
Indeed...the second I posted it, I knew that I had not done so properly, and really should have started my own thread...I almost posted as much, right away, but didn't want to overkill where I already didn't belong. As far as your instructions go, I have the JTS tool, but how should I obtain the diagnostics for reposting (a screen shot?).Please run the following tool and paste the output (after describing your problem) in your new post. ( http://forum.joomla.org/download/file.php?id=70500 )
Thanks, and I'm really sorry for the poor forum etiquette. My bad!

Re: Discuss about JTS-post Assistant
If you read the instructions in either this post (first post) or the tool itself you will be able to make use of the output-- basically;
1) unzip the single .php file on to your own computer.
2) rename it if you like.
3) FTP upload the file to your Joomla! "/" (root) directory (where the index.php and index2.php files are)
4) open the file in your browser ( http://www.yourdomain.com.au/jts-post.php )
5) make the selection of a standard or advanced post and click the "Generate" button
6) copy the output placed in to the text box
7) past that copied output in to your forum post
It should look something like this: http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?p ... 4#p2129374

Re: Discuss about JTS-post Assistant
I am serious about wanting help so I downloaded from download/file.php?id=66336 and unzipped attached file and then uploaded it to /home/****/public_html/joomla using file manager of cPanel 11 at*****. I entered http://www.***.**.au/jtspost_en.php in IE8 address bar and then pressed enter. "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" was the answer I got. I must have done something stupid but I do not know what.

Re: Discuss about JTS-post Assistant
Thanks mandville for your valued advices. I have modified my links to mask the identity to prevent abuse. I have also uninstalled FrontPage extensions earlier required for non-Joomla site.
I have password protected Joomla directory using web hosting cPanel. Will that protect .htaccess too?
I could not understand your last sentence "edit to add -- and globals ? !?!?!?!"
Kindly elaborate. I have started working with Joomla only this week, a total beginner.
cPanel has a feature Fantastico De Luxe which automatically setup Joomla 1.5 for me. If I were to download latest version from Joomla site and install it in the same directory will it overwrite or interfere with numerous modifications I have done in Rukh Milky Way Template to suit my needs? Is it advisable to install Joomla 1.6 Beta 4 considering it is still in Beta stage?
I shall be thankful for your guidance.
I have password protected Joomla directory using web hosting cPanel. Will that protect .htaccess too?
I could not understand your last sentence "edit to add -- and globals ? !?!?!?!"
