You need at least 5 posts before you can use the PM send f..

When did this silly new feature start? What's the purpose? Is there really too many noobs randomly sending PMs?

I tried to answer a question that someone PM'd to me and I couldn't because I only have 4 posts... Silly!

Well now I have 5... after making this post. Again, silly.

It's not silly when, without this feature spammers signup and without even posting, send 100's of unsolicited PM's to people.

Yes, it IS silly. I have to rummage through the forum and find something to post about just to answer a PM?

Why not just implement a captcha or something similar for every PM sent?

Most of the spammers we see are real people.. captcha will make no difference.

Anyway, we do not agree with your reasoning's, but thank you in advance for you cooperation as a member of this site.

If you read the rules.. no one should be requesting help via PM, they should be posting in the forums. Support via PM get's messy, especially when people share private details, which is why we do not allow it. We also try to protect our members from people trying to do nothing more than promote their own services to them.

I am not sure who would PM a user who has less than 5 posts for support anyway. If this has been the case, be very careful, there are many scammers out there. Some trying to pawn their wares, others out to trick and trap people.
