I've spent the last twenty five minutes searching around the Joomla! site and then googling, in a fruitless attempt to find the md5 checksums for Joomla_1.5.14-Stable-Full_Package.tar.gz

Is this secret proprietary information? or does Joomla! allow people to check the integrity of their downloads?

Try this although it takes a few clicks to get there...

http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/joomla

Click on Files (left navigation)
Click on the Package Name (first column)
Click on the Release Name (first column)
Click on the 'Files' tab

First, Thanks SFGolfer for providing the needed info.

Second, I realize this may not be your department, but if not, maybe you could pass this on.

I could barely figure out how to navigate to the checksum even when you told me where to go.

It seems likely that there is a more prominent location that the checksums could be moved to.

Also there could be a separate page for checksums with some keywords, so if somebody is googling the heck out word combinations consisting of the file name and words such as "hash" "md5" "checksums" -they might get a search result they can use.

Also, on the page:

http://docs.joomla.org/How_to_determine ... e_checksum

some info could be added as to how/where to find the sums to use in the verification process.

There's another page here: http://docs.joomla.org/Upgrading_to_1.5_Stable but the link for the "published checksum" is a dead link.

But I agree with you that the checksums should be better located or at least more front and center. I only found the checksums by clicking around. Hopefully, someone can pass this along to the appropriate person(s).
