How to add a picture next to the logo of my site?

I wanted to add a picture/banner to my site next to the logo, so I tried to add it to the social icons module. But it appears too small.

In the edit field, the size of the image is clearly larger.

Resizing the image does not change anything. My question is, how to make the image appear bigger, is the social icons module the right place for it to be, or should I try something else? I want the image to be right next to the logo.
Please help, or I will get into really big trouble .

I think the easiest thing to do is merge the 2 images into one banner using Gimp or Photoshop.
