Editing REGISTER items

I am returning to a Joomla project after years, and that directly to the 3.3.3 version, bypassing all the intermediate versions. Let me begin as a newbie and start asking stupid questions

I don't require most of the items to be filled in the Register Form. Somebody please tell me how/where to do the editing safely? Thanks in advance.

No worries! I've found that asking the "stupid questions" are usually the ones that fix the major errors

When you say the "Register Form" do you mean the actual user registration:

• Name
• Username
• Password
• Confirm Password
• Email Address
• Confirm email Address

Or the optional User Profile plugin:

• Address 1
• Address 2
• City
• Region
• Country
• Postal / ZIP Code
• Phone
• Web site
• Favourite Book
• About Me
• Date of Birth

For the Profile, you can simply edit the plugin and for each item you have the option to make them required, optional or disable them completely. These options can also be set independently for front end vs back end access.

I need the Account Details, of course.
What I totally don't need is Personal Details, which includes Gender, and also Description for which an editor is provided). Several items under User Profile too are not necessary for the site I am devoloping.

Well, I fixed the User Profle by editing the plugin, but I had to use a module to fix the Personal-Details problem. Without that module (part of my template package), it still remains a challenge for me.
