Changing default path from /en/ to /en-us/

Post by steveorg » Sun Mar 29, 2015 11:51 pm

The default path to pages on my site is
mysite.com/en/menuitem.

I'd like to change it to
mysite.com/en-us/menuitem

How do I do that?

The question is: Do you use a multi-language site? If not disable languagefilter plugin and the /en disappears (as it should be since this plugin should not be enabled if no other languages than English are being used)

Good question. The immediate reason to do this is to enhance SEO on foreign English search engines such as google.co.uk and google.co.in. We will have corresponding URLs such as mysite.com/en-gb/menuitem and mysite.com/en-in/menuitem. Eventually we'll also translate the page to other languages and use similar multi-country targeting.
