how to solve the heavy menus in large website

Post by questions2105 » Fri Oct 09, 2015 11:24 am

Hi Everyone,

The large website (joomla3.4) I'm doing has 4000+ menus in Mainmenu. Thus it decreased the website speed. So I need to find some solutions to reduce the menu quantity.

One solution I thought is: use internal article links(insert link using : index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=ID) to replace menu. But now questions come out:

1) I won't custom the Page Title in Menu, which is good for SEO. I like the Page title to be different from Article Title.

2) Problem happened in Breadcrumbs. Now the Breadcrumbs(I used Krizalys Breadcrumbs ) become to:

Home > Product > Article Category > Article Title
Article Title is linked to Homepage, nervous!!!

The Breadcrumbs I want to have like the menu I added before:

Home > Product > Menu Title

How to solve these two problem?

Can anyone to offer good solutions for heavy menu website?

If you create a menu with menu item types category list. Then set your menu module to use the new module it will do two things
  1. Produce a list in the component area like you tried to do before
    and
  2. Because your original menu still exists (but not displayed in a module position) the path should reflect the path in your original (now hidden) menu
Another option would be to use split menus https://docs.joomla.org/Creating_a_submenu
