Extension Update for is failing...

Hi

I am in the Joomla 3.x environment and have a message that "Weblinks Extension Package" needs to be updated. It refers to the following URLs:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/jooml ... nifest.xml
https://github.com/joomla-extensions/we ... /tag/3.4.1

When I check the extension and click update I get the following error:

Now my host is telling me joomla has a permalink issue. how do i fix it?

As the yellow bar error says :

Some update sites are disabled. You may want to check the Update Sites Manager

It sounds like this includes the Weblinks update site which if disabled, Joomla can't reach to install the update, giving you the error. You can turn on the Update Sites for Weblinks in Extensions > Manage > Update Sites.

Not sure if that relates to "permalinks" or not.

If you use the Web Links, you can always update manually

hmmm...I had already checked before posting here to see what was disabled and did not see updates for weblink disabled. I also tried downloading the zip but continued to get error messages.

I do not use weblink. Can I just delete them or is that core joomla?

Any other ideas are appreciated

If you don't use weblinks it's fine to uninstall.

In latter Joomla releases, Weblinks has been removed from the core system and placed on JED as an extension in the "official extensions" category as mentioned in the link above.
