Joomla 3.1.5: [an error occurred while processing this directive]

Website is running Joomla 3.1.5 on PHP 5.6.24 I copied an article HTML source text and created new article in HTML
source mode. Changed a few links (filenames updated to 2016, basically). Links are A HREF links. Uploaded the files to server and published the article. Now, when I click on the link, I get this:

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

Everything else on this site works fine.

Any ideas?

Note: This is a very low traffic site, but I will update Joomla to latest version possibly over the Labor Day weekend.

Just to be clear, you added HTML into an article? Do I understand that correctly?

You may want to up the debug level in your Global Configuration to see if the debugger will include any other information for you. Also, you may want to check and see if your server is saving any details in an error_log. These are often extremely helpful in troubleshooting vague errors like this one.

It seems that the path to the folders in which you stored the files are incorrect. Also make sure that the folder name has no 'spaces"

Excellent - you're site is vulnerable could be "hacked and whacked"

I ended up upgrading the site to the latest stable version earlier tonight. (of course, I dumped the database and made a copy of the CMS folder). All's well and everything is working.
