Save SQL error

I am receiving the following error when trying to save a new or edited article.

Save failed with the following error: SQL=DELETE FROM pen75_versions WHERE vid NOT IN () AND vid NOT IN () AND vid NOT IN () AND vid NOT IN () AND vid NOT IN () AND vid NOT IN () AND vid NOT IN () AND vid NOT IN (1) AND vid NOT IN (2) AND vid NOT IN (1) AND vid NOT IN () AND vid NOT IN (3) AND vid N etc

This applies to all users (includ super admin) in both front and back end and with all major browsers. However can save events (using JEvents) and configuration changes etc in the backend. Happens with JCE 2.3.1 or with No Editor.

Client says problem appeared a week ago when he tried to delete a pdf file? (Probably an article with a pdf file attachment/link?)

Problem identified - seems to be related to the Versions plugin (the v of vid) - disabling this plugin solves the problem.

Funny how describing the problem helps generate additional ideas about solving it...
