When I installed Joomla via Synology DSM (Disk Station Manager) I noticed that they only have Joomla 2.5 available in their package manager.

You could try updating joomla to Joomla 3 from with Joomla (in Update Manager, select Options and choose STS releases). You'd better backup the current website (eg using Akeeba backup) before doing so.

I own a DS1813+, running DSM 5.0 (Update 3) and just successfully upgraded from 2.5 to 3.2.

This is what I did:

-Downloaded the 3.2 package directly from the Joomla website onto my desktop.
-Accessed File Station and opened the Web folder (Make sure you are not running any packages, including Joomla)
-Removed the old joomla folder and replaced with the new 3.2 joomla folder. (The old folder contained 22 files. The new version has 24)
-Closed File Station
-Started Joomla from within the Package Center
-Entered all the original setup info on the Joomla page and went through the installation process/wizard.

I am now using Joomla and have added some v.3 plugins and extensions.

Let me know if you run into any issues.

You need to urgently upgrade to Joomla 3.3.3 since your version has security vulnerabilities
