Joomla 3.4 installation hangs at last step

Am trying to install joomla 3.4 but the installation is not getting completed. I checked my db, all the tables are created but the installation hangs at the last step. I am using xampp. Please help.

xampp cp >>> Apache config button >>> PHP(php.ini) ... find "max_execution_time=" ... make 300
max_execution_time=300

localhost on windows 8 is a pain

I've tried it, but still can't finish instalation.. How many hours we need for instalation??

go to ->php.ini replace the MyInnodb to Myissam

I have been trying to install the latest package of Joomla 3.4.1 on xampp\htdocs\joomla in a subdirectory. I use Windows 8.1.
It hangs at the last step.

max_execution_time=300 is set.

Issue with migrating? Include logs/joomla_update.php in your report!
Blank screen? Verify pagesource for HTML code (javascript error)
Installation failing on populating database? Install with set_time_limit(0)

You may have edited the wrong php.ini file ... are you using xampp, wamp or what ? How did you locate the php.ini file to edit ?

I user xampp and i get the php.ini through control panel >>> apache config button >>> php.ini

Then on win7 you should have no problem and on win8 no problem if max_execution_time=300
It is slower on win8 but it does eventually install.
