host needs PHP 5.3.10 but it is on 5.3.3

Post by boumy » Sat Sep 05, 2015 12:03 am

Hello.

Now that I put my site on the production server I get this message:
"Your host needs to use PHP 5.3.10 or higher to run this version of Joomla!"
But the php info function or FPA say the server has PHP 5.3.3

What is wrong ? :(

I have read about :
* cpannel entry to change (I need to call my host for this).
* .htaccess to configure with :

Code: Select all

AddHandler application/x-httpd-php53 .php
But then I get this error:
"mark('afterLoad') : null; // Instantiate the application. $app = JFactory::getApplication('site'); // Execute the application. $app->execute();"
Any idea ?

Thank you very much.

Hi there!

Well, you say "Your host needs to use PHP 5.3.10 or higher ", your php info says you have "5.3.3", thats a lower version than 5.3.10, its something like this: 5.3.3 - 5.3.4.... to ...5.3.10

You need go to your CPanel or similar, many hosting providers have an option for select a PHP versión for your hosting, you can find this options and change them, you dont need call your host for this, once changed, everything should work correctly!

Cheers!

PHP 5.3.3 is a lower version than PHP 5.3.10.

Do not consider the last part as the decimal (i.e., .3 is greater than .10). It is a number (i.e., 3 and 10 respectively). So, PHP 5.3.3 is indeed a lower version than 5.3.10.

The directive (Addhandler) you used in the .htaccess only enforces the use of PHP 5.3. It does not specify which version of PHP to use.

Please get in touch with your host service provider to find out about what version of PHP they support and how to make use of it in your case.

Most hosts should have a control panel option (in cPanel for example) to allow you to choose your PHP version - say versions between 5.3.x to 5.6 . My host for example has 5.3 to 5.6 available in cPanel.

It is especially important, especially where Joomla extensions may have a higher minimum PHP requirement than the Joomla core itself like Akeeba products - require at minimum PHP 5.4.x these days (won't run on anything less) where Joomla 3.4.x still only needs at minimum 5.3.10 (but recommends 5.4.x or higher.)
