Re: Installing Quickstart package, page not found
Sounds like you are doing something wrong. Suggest to correct your mistake and try again.
Issue with migrating? Include logs/joomla_update.php in your report!
Blank screen? Verify pagesource for HTML code (javascript error)
Installation failing on populating database? Install with set_time_limit(0)
Document your customizations!

Doesn't the quickstart package create the database ?MSerwanga wrote:I installed the package and created the database but when I load the url I get the 404 page not found error.
What folder did the quickstart package install into ? Or has it just written the files to another folder and you need to point your browser at that folder to install ?
Suggest you look in the file manager to see which folder the htaccess.txt is in and see if there is also a configuration.php file or /installation folder. Usually the quickstart packages just unpack to a folder ... then when you point the browser at it that's when it installs. More often than not it has the database details (fields) already filled in.
Would suggest that you use the Joomla full package to perform the install. It will be better in the long run.

I've installed it into the public_html folder, there is. Do you just type in website.com for example ?

Re: Installing Quickstart package, page not found
So you extracted the package and placed on your webspace. Next thing to do is installing it by putting your domain in your browser. It will start the installation.

Re: Installing Quickstart package, page not found
Try with and without www
Try also with /index.php and /installation/index.php
It could be that your server only serves http://www or only http://
or
It might be that your server doesn't automatically fetch index.php
