Ok.. I do have a webmin/virtualmin setup.. on CentOS 6..

This way I can create my vhosts very easily...

Virtualmin for centos 7 is not there yet, but soon as it is there I'd suggest to think about it.

Only a few issues, ideas and stuff I encountered and tackled on this setup.

Good habit is to invest some time in server templates in virtualmin.
A default server template will setup a vhost including allmost all features including email and such...
Anyway managing your site/host from within virtualmin is much easier than webmin alone...
The system you configure through webmin, the sites/hosts through virtualmin..

I only had an issue with SEO/SEF settings whith the .htaccess...
when turned on, my sites blanked.. easiest to resolve and keep the system as vanilla as possible (also defaults for non joomla stuff) is to comment this line in htaccess file:

Code: Select all

Options +FollowSymLinks
to

Code: Select all

#Options +FollowSymLinks
It only happened to me when setting a vanilla webmin/virtualmin on CentOS, My Ubuntus where ok from start.. Ubuntu has some advantages over Centos when it comes to some features of webmin/virtualmin (apache modules manager not in CentOS it is in Ubuntu, don't ask me why... ) Installing Virtualmin on a Ubuntu also was done in a flash, CentOS asked for some modifications in access rights and stuff...
But it is running and I am satisfied..

Aha, as a scriptinstaller..... no it isn't there since Joomla 1.5 I believe.. you can create your own... https://www.virtualmin.com/documentatio ... er/scripts

But my experience with it is that clients push that button much too often killing their existing sites.....
