Can't upgrade 3.4.4 to 3.4.5
Hello, I've tried to update using the "update" direct method, ftp, uploading a package, but I can't make it work.
Permissions are ok, just fixed everything just in case with admins tools. I also cleared cache.
I get this error:
ERROR:
Could not open /home/...../public_html/cache/index.html for writing.
After the error I get the update page, but the circle is spinning forever and staying at 0%.
I checked this index.html file and it exists, has 644 permissions, but it's a totally empty file.
Any ideas?

Hi Phidias,
Can you check via FTP if this folder exists "/public_html/cache/" ?

- Yes, the cache folder exist, after emptying the cahce, ther eis only one file, cache.html, 0 KB, and if I open it with a text editor is totally empty.
- What you exactely mean with "extensions - install the update patch?"
From extensions-manage, I've tried with upload package and install from URL.
If I try to upload a package I get a different error:
Warning
Copy file failed
Error
Error installing file
Thank you for trying to help me guys.

Let's try something else.
Navigate to the admin panel of Joomla, System > Global Configuration > Server [tab] and disable the FTP Settings (screenshot).
Try to update again, and let us know about the result.

From the last error that you show , if ftp layer is disabled i think that you have ownership issue and you must contact with your host

Yes, ftp settings were already disabled. I was adding them manually when tring an alternative update method, but they are not stored in the configuration

try to rename the "public_html/cache" folder to "public_html/__BKP__cache/" and then recreate it via cPanel or Plesk (not FTP).

Wow that worked, thank you! I actually didn't have to recreate the folder, because once I logged in, there were already cache_bk and a new cache folder. I tried the update and it worked!
