Huge sql table activity_pages and j25_activity_node

Hello.

My site has two large sql tables and I wonder why. I can see it is slowing backup with akeeba. Else, the site works very well.

Those tables are activity_pages (631 466 lines for 51 Mo) and activity_node (397 525 lines for 45,3 Mo).

The site has 2 years old. Was Joomla 2.5.x and now 3.4.3
Contains circa 220 pages (maximum)

When it was under Joomla 2.5 it had a plugin for versioning but I have trashed it. So did I for its table. I also cleared the table for redirection that was large probably due to attacks.

Any idea about what to do with those two large tables ?

Are the tables still growing in size?

I would create a full backup,
install it at some other location (eg on PC with XAMPP),
search the PHP code for activity_pages or activity_node to see where those are called,
remove the 2 tables & test the whole site to see it's still working.

If those are no longer used, just keep a backup of them & remove them from the server.
Alternatively you can configure Akeeba to exclude some tables from backup....

That is a very good idea. So far, in my last backup, I don't find a code that includes those words. So probably it is from an older version of my site. Maybe from extensions that I tried and finally dropped. I will look forward in older backups and also check if those tables grow.
