Warning: JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find XML setup file

Quite often when I install or update an extension to Joomla 3.3.6 I see this warning.
I don't see any problem in filerights, and the extensions install as they should (as far as I can see), so what does it mean and what can I do?
I've tried searching for it, and some says that the tag needs to 'extension', well on the ones I've check it is already that.

Does the archive have UNZIP in the name? If so, that error will occur. Otherwise, give the name of a particular extension which triggered the error.

First check on this is to drop the xml into a browser. It might be invalid xml!
Issue with migrating? Include logs/joomla_update.php in your report!
Blank screen? Verify pagesource for HTML code (javascript error)
Installation failing on populating database? Install with set_time_limit(0)
