Create multiple joomla sites

Post by Trachemys » Sat Jun 25, 2016 8:35 pm

II'm thinking the best way to create multiple Joomla sites with the same database.

What do you think about creating different templates for each site with a different menu for each template
There would be some problem with this approach?
You have a better idea?

Install Joomla with the learning Joomla demo data and you can see 3 sites in one installation (one prefix).

Also, it is not the database that makes a site, it is the set of tables with the same prefix.
So, you can have 3 different sites in one database with 3 different prefixes. Those sites are completely independent of each other. The only thing they happen to share is the database. The number 3 here is just an example, could be any number.

In addition to that, there are extensions for multisites, see extensions.joomla.org.
Issue with migrating? Include logs/joomla_update.php in your report!
Blank screen? Verify pagesource for HTML code (javascript error)
Installation failing on populating database? Install with set_time_limit(0)
Document your customizations!

I forgot, my idea was that users and records are the same at all sites against 3 separate sites
