Updating from 3.3.6 to 3.4.1

Post by gmegane » Mon Apr 27, 2015 6:16 am

Hi.
I'm a little confused about the update to 3.4.1.
I have several websites with version 3.3.6 and I would like to update them to 3.4.1
May I check the compatibility with templates and extensions before update?

Thanks
George

Hiii.... gmegane

You can update your current Joomla version, but make sure that your installed template, extension or plugin must be compatible with your latest Joomla, otherwise they may create a problem.

My experience is that if extensions are compatible with 3.3.6 and you are using the latest versions of all of them then you should be okay on that score.

You will need to check with your template provider that your template is compatible or update to the latest version of it before updating.

Obviously, back-up your site and database before doing the update. Better still, test the update on a local PC installation before updating too ;)

I thing for sure, you should test update with a site at local. I usually do that before update
