Editor Issues after migration - no editor works - crashes

Post by jbrandt04330 » Mon Jun 29, 2015 6:35 pm

I just migrated to the latest 3.x package (3.4.1) of Joomla a site that was in v 2.5. Everything went quite smoothly until I tried to edit a content/article. First I noticed that the edit window was showing HTML code and no editor toolbar. When I tried to save, save-and-close, or close, nothing happens. I return to the /administration page and then look at the content Article Manager and that article is locked out.

I have tried ALL of the editors available in Default Editor in Site Settings (including "Editor-none")...all with the same outcome, all crash the file. I even installed the latest version of JCE and have the same outcome.

The ONLY time it works is when I put the site in Debug mode. I can send what the Debug report says (it all makes not sense to me) if that will help.

I'm seeing lots of posts on this same topic...

Getting 404 errors - three
Here is one of them:

...administrator/index.php?option=com_jce&view=editor&layout=editor&task=pack&component_id=22&wf064e4f9ae7f3205955c1ae6f55662f91=1

Also getting this comment:

ReferenceError: WFEditor is not defined
at http://.../administrator/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&layout=edit&id=19:379:7

So how does one "define" the editor?

you should remove old editor.... install jce plugin.... then set error_reporting to maximum and see more error.

It looks like we have a winner!

I removed JCE and then re-installed using the Install from Web feature (new to me in 3x) I no longer had the JS errors on the page, but the Article editor was still showing the HTML version. I then enabled the TineMCE and CodeMirror plugins and the JCE editor came to life.

I had also, one someone else's suggestion, reloaded all of the files in Libraries and Includes directly to the server. Between all of these activities, it appears to all be working now.

Many thanks for your support!
