Upgrading PHP from 5.3.3 to 5.3.28 Error

Post by nooblarama » Thu Jun 05, 2014 3:36 am

Hello,
Not quite sure where to start with this one.
I have a hosting account that allows me to have multiple PHP versions and I can switch between them for the domain when required... which it will be soon.
I ran a test on a dummy website
Joomla 3.2.3
PHP 5.3.3
MySQL 5.1.73
Global config settings
DB MySQL
Host localhost:3306
When I go to the Hosting Settings for the test website I can switch the PHP version to 5.3.28 and the website gives me this error on a white screen for front and back ends.
"Error displaying the error page: Application Instantiation Error: Could not connect to MySQL."
Any clues?
Thanks community :)

You might want to use the Forum Post Assistent as mentioned above to find out whether the correct MySQL driver is loaded. It is either MySQL or MySQLi depending on which one you used.
Issue with migrating? Include logs/joomla_update.php in your report!
Blank screen? Verify pagesource for HTML code (javascript error)
Installation failing on populating database? Install with set_time_limit(0)
Document your customizations!

Just wanted to follow up on this. My host hadn't installed some missing extensions for the new PHP version and it was unable to see MySQL. The new version was deinstalled on the server, extensions installed and then the new PHP reinstalled and it all works fine.
