[Solved] broken links on homepage after upgrade to 3.2.1
I just upgraded from 3.x to 3.2.1. and am having problems with all the links on the front end. The homepage displays okay but whatever link I click on takes me to a page that says:
Object not found!
The requested URL was not found on this server. The link on the referring page seems to be wrong or outdated. Please inform the author of that page about the error.
If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.
Error 404
localhost
Apache/2.4.4 (Win32) OpenSSL/0.9.8y PHP/5.4.19
It was working properly before the upgrade. I am developing this site offline using XAMPP and am almost ready to upload to my host but can't.
I have checked everything I can think of but can find nothing that appears to cause this.
The odd thing is that I am developing a second website offline using XAMPP and after upgrading there are no problems.
Does anyone know what might be happening and how I might correct the problem? Thanks.
Fran

Re: broken links on homepage after upgrade to 3.2.1
Well, I guess no one in the Joomla world has any idea of what my problem is.
So, I'm not sure what I should do to correct it except to go back to previous version.
Frannyji.

did you try turning off SEF URLs in global configuration?

jenn,
You are a wonder. I did as you suggested and voila ... the links are working. Thank you so very much.
It'd be nice if there was a note about that sort of thing in release notes, or somewhere. I've about torn my hair out trying to hunt down what could have been the problem.
Happy camper, once again.

a postscript...
Curiously, the 2nd website that has worked after the upgrade has the SEF url switched on in the global configuration.
Why one works and the other didn't is a total mystery to me.

Re: broken links on homepage after upgrade to 3.2.1
i know - it's weird what can happen. though i haven't heard of that on just an update. perhaps it has to do with developing on your local device. i've never had that happen to me on a server on an update.
normally, i don't enable sef urls until the site is totally live and i do so like this http://docs.joomla.org/Enabling_Search_ ... _on_Apache
while in development mode, i like to leave sef urls off. that's just me though.
anytime the home page is fine and the rest of the pages 404 sef urls are the first thing i check. then i go one step at a time until it's fixed.
good luck, fran! and welcome to the joomla community forum!

Okay, how do I mark the issue in this topic as being fixed/solved? Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks.
