??? method to update from latest version ???

I'm venturing into an attempt to upgrade from version 1.7.0 to the latest 3.x
I'm following the guide

but as expected things are not at all smooth

upgrade joomla consists of a script to run on the version to upgrade

but if you install the latest version, eg 3.3.1, and on this you try to transfer contents & extensions from the installation to upgrade, it would be a bad idea?

of course this process is to be carried out with a multiple scripts, but if some operations you can not automate the process then it could be long

1.first of all before update you must create a back up
2. update 1.7 to 2.5.22
3 check your server requirements http://docs.joomla.org/Technical_requirements
4 before update 2.5 to 3.3.1 create a back up and after disable the plugin remember be.
also don forget to uninstall your 2.5 third party extensions which are not valid in joomla 3

it s better to make an update from a fresh install
