[SOLVED] Upgrade 2.5.24 to 3.3 Control Panel with Error 1024

Hello,

I have just upgraded a project from J2.5.24 to J3.3. - checked all requirements (I have done already other upgrades without a problem).

But for this installation:

For the control panel I get the error message:

Code: Select all

Error 1054: Unknown column '' in 'order clause' SQL=SELECT * FROM `#_postinstall_messages` WHERE `extension_id` = '700' AND `enabled` = '1' ORDER BY `` ASC 

For the Component "Post Installation Messages"

Code: Select all

Error 1146: Table 'tablename.#_postinstall_cpanels' doesn't exist SQL=SHOW FULL COLUMNS FROM `#_postinstall_cpanels` 

I did make a backup of the old J2.5
I deactivated all plugins not from Joomla and "Remember me". I tried to upgrade all components for J3.3 before update then update (except Joomgallery). I tried to uninstall all components, also uninstall Joomgallery before and install again afterwards. Still the same problem.

I did Extensions - Database -> there is nothing to fix (I still hit "Fix")
I did Extensions - Discover -> there is nothing to discover

I followed this post http://docs.joomla.org/J3.x:Table_xxx_p ... _not_exist which gives me a broken control panel. I copied the files back then.

Any ideas?

just a thought:
export a table postinstall_messages from another joomla 3.3.3
drop the table postinstall_messages from your site you get the error
import the table postinstall_messages from your pc

these you can do it via phpmyadmin

back up before you do that

I have other J3.3 installations and the postinstall_messages is exactly the same. Also in other "working" J3.3 installations there is no table #_postinstall_cpanels.

I think it has something to do with the changed libraries/fof but I don't know much about it.

Anybody an idea?

Scan this board for "practical guide" and you'll find the procedure to properly migrate your site. You failed to update the old fof. You should remove it befor updating!

Actually I did read the "practical guide", but the fof is only mentionend after like 40 topics on page 3 which I did not read all in detail.

However, with the following link from page 3 of the practical guide, I could solve my problem:

I did replace the fof (backup or just rename your old folder!!!) and I did install the new fof plugin as mentioned in the github-article --> still screwed my site. Then I copied the new "fof" files over the old "fof files and then manually deleted the old files in the folder libraries/fof. Only the following files (and of course all folders) remain (don't delete):
include.php
index.html
lib_fof.xml
LICENSE.txt
version.txt

I landed here from a diff post suggestion. I wanted to update others. I did everything above and it did not work so I went and downloaded the last FOF. I eventually got rid of the error message but also lost my control panel. No errors. Just nothing on the page. All other pages of the admin worked. I ended up renaming the Library folder. I then uploaded the entire library folder from a fresh instal. Looks like everything is working as it should right now. This site though as very little other addons, components, plugins ect. That might have helped this solution not hurt something else.

After reading the last post I decided to rename the fof folder in the libraries folder and upload the fof folder from the 3.3.6 installation package and that works.

The PR for removing the old files has been accepted for J3.4.0 beta 1. So updating to J3.4 in a few weeks won't fail of old installation of fof anymore.
