The problem might not be the router ... it could be one of several reasons. A custom template, a 3rd party extension or a 'rule that was added to the .htaccess to name but a few. The fact that you posted in the SEF forum and your post had to be moved also points to flaws in your reasoning that make your conclusion unsound.

There are several reasons why your 'solution' to your problem are unsound and why there is a need to investigate the real reason for it. If you don't wish to investigate your problem that is your prerogative. But it must be noted (for the benefit of other users) that your 'solution' is not a solution and can put a site at risk.

Issue with migrating? Include logs/joomla_update.php in your report!
Blank screen? Verify pagesource for HTML code (javascript error)
Installation failing on populating database? Install with set_time_limit(0)
