Problem migrating from Joomla 3.5.1 to Joomla 3.6

Post by florcdp » Mon Aug 22, 2016 8:05 pm

Hi everybody! I'm having some trouble trying to updating my Joomla site from 3.5.1 to 3.6.0, I get the following error:
"mysite.com says:

ERROR:
null"

Any clue what might be causing this?

Many thanks!

You may need to update the Joomla Update Component before you can update your site. I would check inside Extensions --> Updates to see if the Joomla Update Component shows up in your list. If it does, run this update, and then try updating to Joomla 3.6.

I have the same problem.

My current version is 3.5.1 and when I try to update to 3.6.0 I get the following error :
"The archive file is corrupt, truncated or archive parts are missing"

I tried many things I found on forums but nothing worked.

Permissions on tmp folder 755 : ok
FTP connexion : not activated

When trying to update manually the package, I get this message :
"JInstaller: :Install: Cannot find Joomla XML"

Does someone have the solution please ? :'(

@vulgarisator you can't update Joomla 3.5 to 3.6 using the extension installer. This feature was removed (although it was added back in after 3.6.2 I believe). You need to use the Joomla Update component.

@vulgarisator please open your own issue and do not hijack somebody's topic for your own interest?

Joomla 3.5.x upgrade to J3.6.2:
  • Upgrade 3.5 to Joomla 3.6.0 (see upgrade instructions on the documentation portal)
  • Once upgraded to Joomla 3.6.0 upgrade in extensions-->upgrade--> clear cache--> discover--> and install com_joomlaupdate extension
  • after the upgrade of the com_joomlaupdate extension go to the Joomla update component and clear cache and reload. The upgrade to Joomla 3.6.2 should show now
  • update Joomla to J3.6.2
