Problem with Google and Language Title

Post by capogr » Wed Aug 27, 2014 5:07 pm

It’s a strange thing Google indexes all of my pages and add after the “Page title” the “Language title” why is this happening? How can I stop this from happening.
Thank you in advance

Did you define Page title in menu item or article item ? If you define that right, google mostly respect that if its relevant and long enough ... If you do not fill meta data, then google do it own way

Do you mean in "Page display" ->"Browser Page Title" in most pages yes but now i see i missed some. This is the first time i am facing such a problem
Do you think that it may be caused from "System - Language Filter" when i ckecked "YES" -> "Remove URL Language Code"

Look at the source of the page to see if this is displayed. It could be the alternate.

In the example shown in pic

Code: Select all

            <div class="container innerpage_content">
                <div class="row">
                     <div class="title">
                        <h1>
                            Διακοσμητικές παρεμβάσεις                        </h1>

                    </div>

Code: Select all

<li class="lang-active" dir="ltr">
			<a href="/">
							<img src="/media/mod_languages/images/el_gr.gif" alt="Ελληνικα (GR)" title="Ελληνικα (GR)" />						</a>
			</li>
Looks like it comes from the Greek flag in the language switcher.
I think this is rather positive: You can also change your Content Language Native name to whatever you like.
