No languages in backend selectors

Post by zyltar » Fri May 06, 2016 9:56 am

Hi,

Not sure it's really a bug but as we do not find anything else that could explain the problem I hope somebody here will have an idea.

On some of our 3.5.1 websites, since upgrading we have empty languages selector in the backend : user profile, overrides filter and some third party extensions having backend language selectors such as RsForm Pro. Those websites are also completely missing the language selector on backend login.

We actually know that it causes major problems if trying to update RsForm (and probably any other multilingual extension) but still have no idea where it comes from. We tried establishing comparison between the websites where we have this issue and those working but did not find anything relevant.

All the concerned websites have been updated regularly, some may have jumped from 3.4.8 to 3.5.1 due to the short time between both releases. Some are multilingual (frontend / backend) others not but all of them have at least EN (uk) and FR languages installed (french version of joomla installation at first). For most of them french is the default language and we never encounter languages problem before on any of them.

Anybody with an idea or a similar problem ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Helene

Hi,

I finally found where the problem was coming from. It was due to glob() being disabled by our hosting provider.

Once enabled, everything is working correctly.

Hi Zyltar,
You mean register_globals = off ? It must be on? Thanks?

No, the warning was "glob() disabled for security reason". I had to ask my host support for enabling it.

Hope that helps :)

No, I don't think it's related.
