Metadata in Weblinks is not shown

Hello All,

A set meta description in Global Configuration of my site: for example"My main description"

After that I create a menu link and point it to a category of weblinks (List weblinks in a category), and in this menu I set another meta description - for ex: My new description of the weblink category

But when I open the page in a browser and look at the Page Source Code I see that the description is not my Menu description , but the general meta description?

Is this a bug , or if I made a mistake somewhere ?

in joomla! 3.2, you can enter Meta Description
Menus > Menu Manager: Menu Items > Edit Menu Item > Metadata > Meta Description

Hi and thanks for you answer, BUT maybe you didn't read what I wrote.

I am doing exactly the same, what you wrote BUT this seems like a bug or I don't know.
Try in your installation of Joomla 3.2 and you will see.

Is there any other suggestions?

Hi and thanks for the links.
I am not a junior Joomla user. I know how to enter metatags (description, and keywords.) But as I wrote in my previous posts, The site doesn't get the meta data, which I 've entered in the weblinks category, but it always get the Global meta data. And this is very bad for SEO - duplicate meta description .

For every weblink category I set different description, for the menu button to the weblinks I set different description , but even that in View Source I always get the global meta description.
With other native components all is alright expet the weblink component.

So can you please check in your Joomla 3.x installation and the weblink

I see this is still an issue or at least I am still having this same problem? Anyone know when this will be fixed or if it has been fixed what I should do that I may not be doing?

I checked the issue tracker but it didn't look like it had been completed?

Yes, as of Joomla version 3.3.6 or earlier, code has been added to the components/com_content/views/category/view.html.php file but that doesn't correct the problem. A meta description for a Weblink category still does not replace the global meta description.

It's still not fixed but maybe we can hope for it to be solved in J 3.4
