How to add META Tag to your website

Hello Guys,

I have started Learning SEO and need help for adding these meta tags generated online I have no idea.
My site was developed by Developer now i want to learn how to manage it.
pls tell how to make SEO based website..
I have no idea how to start it...

and i have watched you-tube tutorial which tells to add global setting in Joomla to for meta name and description that part i have finished.

The below is the path to add to Description and keywords to your Joomla site.Hope this helps.

MenuAdministrator--> Global Configuration-> Global site Meta Description and Global Site Meta Keywords on the right

In your System > Global Configuration > Site > Metadata Settings there is a spot to add Site Meta Description & Site Meta Keywords

Since these would populate any pages that are not defined at menu or article level you get duplicates. That is not good, duplicate meta tags are bad for SEO.

So would you do the meta tags in the global config or in each article and leave the global config area blank? thanks, Sean

first if your site have meta tag box when you writting content it easy to write meta tags, Unless try to edit code with : <meta content='a,b,c' name='tags'/>

I always leave them blank globally. You want to add them to menu items or maybe articles. FYI, menu item will trump a article.

Page title tag is the Most important tag to use and should be set on menu items.

Best to let engines scrape your content for keywords rather than supply them in the meta. Do use the "description" tag though as it will appear below the website name in Google results.

First I suggest you try to choose meta tags carefully because these meta tags are responsible for the ranking of your website, and if your site have already written meta tags don't try to edit them just write meta tags into it.
