Hi, two of my sites completely have the sef plugin completely gone. I know you can't just upload them via ftp. You need to upload the zip files in extension manager. Where do I get this from? I also know if there is a database for it without being collapsed it may not work. What do I do? I don't even know how this happened I never deleted it, but it is making images not load on my other pages just on the main page.

Re: sef plugin gone
This is the first time I hear of this. It might be someone with access to your website who did that or it might be a hack. It might be also be that you disabled the plugin.
In any case, you can re-install the plugin by downloading a fresh copy of Joomla, extracting it to your local machine, zipping the files sef.php and sef.xml under plugins/system/sef to a file called sef.zip, and then installing it (uploading it) in the extension manager.

Re: sef plugin gone
you didn't answer part of my question. Do you know where to download it? Its system default files. I can't find the zip anywhere by itself and I've looked. Infact these boards seem kind of quiet and I was excited to see someone reply and it's like please help me.

@ itoctopus already answered you. You must compress the folder sef from a joomla full package and make it sef.zip. Then this you can install it.gregloucks wrote:you didn't answer part of my question. Re: sef plugin gone
I tried that but it didn't work. There was an error installing it. Like my zip compression was in error or something. But, thankfully I did find somewhere to download it a month later. I actually started having this problem a month ago it took me 2 days alone to figure out why pictures were only loading on the main page, the same pictures in same module positions. You turn off sef in global configuration and the pics load. I guess it just takes phrasing something correctly on Google I googled for this a month ago. And just now I find it!
Download system sef plugin from here if it ever goes missing on you: http://www.orware.com/downloads/
This has been a problem I have had for a month. I did google it and found other forum posts on this and none of their suggestions worked either. In fact itoctupus idea was a suggestion I found before. This zip download from my link works and if anyone has the same problem download from that link. And if it gets deleted from that link I'm keeping it in my joomla files incase contact me.
As far as itoctopus never seeing this problem that's fine he has now, but google it it does seem to happen to others, I started googling this a month ago. My web host Godaddy has very limited Joomla knowledge but googling it they can tell it's a common problem too. This seems to happen not from hackers but from installing certain plugins or components that erase it. Plugin tcshortcodes that is crap that doesn't work is what I think did it for me. Other components or plugins that supposedly make better sef including one called sh404sef seems to do it. A forum post I saw said reinstall that sh404sef. If that doesn't weork try downloading it from my link too.
