SEF URLs Error 404 the Article is not found

Hello All

I was hope this is the place I could finally find the answer.
I just created my first Joomla website but as it seems I am experiencing some issues with the SEF URLs. Every-time I turn them on the only page that is displaying correctly is the Homepage. All the other pages/ articles are shown the 404 Error. So then I turn them off and everything is fine except from the displaying URLs which are a mess. Turning off the SEF URLs is not the solution (for many reasons) so if there is anything that you can suggest I would be grateful.

Have you enabled "Use URL rewriting"? If yes, have you renamed the htaccess.txt file to .htaccess? In case your site in not in webroot - you'll also need to change RewriteBase in .htaccess file.

deligence is right. that has to do with your .htaccess If rewriting is enabled, then make sure you have renamed the htaccess.txt file to .htaccess in your docroot.

Yes, URL rewriting will hopefully resolve your issues and you can also go with some third party Joomla extension like "SH404SEF" which is one the most reliable and you can find it on Joomla extension directory.

Thank you All for your responses and apologies for the delay in mine

@deligence I made the change you suggested at the htaccess file (from htaccess.txt to .htaccess) but unfortunately I keep getting the same 404 error. .. You also mentioned to RewriteBase in .htaccess file but I am not sure how to do that. I entered the file and change the "#RewriteBase" to #RewriteBase/ joomla" but still nothing. (Note: I have enabled "Use URL rewriting")
Any thoughts?

Please remove # from "#RewriteBase" and then check it. If you still face the issue, please send me the .htaccess file + your site URL. You can email to me at sanjay [at] deligence.com
