Question about using propery microdata "itemscope itemtype"

Post by danjde » Mon Apr 18, 2016 3:01 pm

Hi friends,
I've a basic question of microdata utilization:

On a hotel descriptive home page, is it more correct to use "itemscope itemtype" "article
(<div itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/Article">)

or

"itemscope itemtype" hotel
(<div itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/Hotel">)

many thanks

Hi there,

In this case the data in schema.org/Hotel it's more suitable for the type of information
you mention.

Cheers.

Hi,

Yes is possible too, you can use more than one item type, find more info here:

Thanks AlexVega!
I've try to put the first microdata code for an Joomla (3.5.1) article and this happens:

1) insert "name" code for the article title: <h2 itemprop="name">My Article Title</h2>
2) then I go to Google Structured Data Testing Tool and I can see a new value "name" with the correct article name
3) but, Google show me another "name" value field (the second), that seem red and missing.

If I click on the missing red "name" value, Google say me:

You must specify a value for the name field.

Articles AMP

Why Google see two "name" fields?
What are the AMP articles?

many many thanks again!

Hi,

AMP = Accelerated Mobile Pages, for the moment don't worry about this.

Are you using template overrides to adding your microdata?

Cheers!

No override, asking to Rockettheme template developers seems not necessary. Here their answers (deleted from free Joomla forum..):

You don't need to override. Please see " How Joomla 3.3's Microdata Support Can Improve SEO " (http://www.rockettheme.com/blog/joomla/ ... mprove-seo)
