Making Protostar unresponsive

Post by ozziemate » Sun Apr 20, 2014 7:49 am

Joomla 3.2.3
Tp: Duplicated, Protostar custom.

I searched the forum but failed to find anything that would be adequate for the task.
------
Hi,
I need to make one of my 3 templates unresponsive.
That the template remain static at a width either default (940px) or greater.
This is mainly to facilitate large page sizes needed for online community functions, that are best performed using a desktop flat screen but may be needed to be accessed for minor issues via smart phone. [using phone zoom functionality]

Question:
Is there a way to disable the responsiveness of a static template?
What would be the most effective and efficient method for doing so?

Any help greatly appreciated as always.

Ok, due to a lack of anything better, what I did to make the template unresponsive was a bit of a long haul but appears to have achieved the result needed.
For those looking for a must have now solution:

What I did was the following:

Selected all the content of template.css and copy and pasted it into a text editor.
[Twice: One to be used as a backup]
I then searched the entire file for :
>@media
using the search function of the text editor.
I then manually deleted all
>@media
styling.

Deleted the original template.css file contents from the template manager
Then copy and pasted the entire edited file into the template.css from the text editor.
Results:
Tested on desktop reduced screen and mobile smart phone...
Pages appear perfectly aligned and as they do in normal desktop static view.

Time taken : approximately 15 minutes.

If some one can come up with an "over ride" that can do the job more efficiently it would be great if you could post it.
I am using a copy template so upgrading the platform will not mean reworking the style sheet.
If you are using the original Protostar template you will need to use another method to avoid reworking it every upgrade.
