Login/Logout Menu
I made a menu item called logout. I want that to show only when a user is logged in.
have the login only show for public people and hide when people are logged in
and hide Signup when people are logged in

Re: LOGIN/LOGOUT MENU
For the logout menu item: set the access level = Registered
For the login form: set the access level = Guest

Wouldn't The Registered user still see the login menu as they inherit the rights of the user hi-archery

No. Guest items are only visible to non-logged in users.djslue wrote:Wouldn't The Registered user still see the login menu as they inherit the rights of the user hi-archery

Re: LOGIN/LOGOUT MENU
There is a difference. Guest is only visible to users who are not logged in, public is visible whether they are or not.

Re: LOGIN/LOGOUT MENU
I changed login menu item to guest and it still shows up when I'm logged in as "Super User"
Would being Super User matter?

Re: LOGIN/LOGOUT MENU
No because the user hierarchy has nothing to do with the view/access levels. The User Groups only have view/access to menus (and modules) set at the view/access level the User Group has been selected in. i.e. 'Registered' is not selected in the 'Guest' view/access level therefore a logged in Registered user will not see a menu item (or module) that is set to view/access level.djslue wrote:Wouldn't The Registered user still see the login menu as they inherit the rights of the user hi-archery

Re: LOGIN/LOGOUT MENU
Have you cleared Joomla's cache? System -> Clear Cache, select all items, click delete. Do you have any third party caching components installed. have you rechecked the permissions of your menu item? Have you, as has already been suggested, tested this with the Protostar template?
