Can someone explain this procedure more clearly. Like WHAT location on my server, and extract it how. I'm not savvy enough to understand this. How to install the quickstart
Inside the download package you will find both the template and the quickstart. This tutorials explains in two simple steps how to install the QUICKSTART for our templates.
1. Step 1
The quickstart is a copy of the demo website and contains the TEMPLATE+DEMO CONTENT+JOOMLA. For this reason it does NOT install like a Joomla! template using the EXTENSION MANAGER.
The quickstart installs like a normal Joomla! installation: you must copy the quickstart achive into a location on your server, extract it and start the installation process by targeting that location on your browser.

Need help understanking Quickstart install
I am trying to install this FavTheme template. If I just install the template from the extension Manager, it does not provide the menu. In order to have that, you have to install the whole demo package. The problem is that I don't understand the instructions that follow. I have uploaded this package to my public html folder. That however does not install it into the database, so it does not show in phpMyAdmin.

Re: Need help understanking Quickstart install
hi!
I haven't worked with this template company before. However, I believe you would follow steps similar to this:
1. Download their quickstart
2. Upload it to your server in either public_html or a subdirectory/subdomain.
3. Extract it in cPanel with the "extract" button in the File Manager.
4. Go to yourdomain.com/installation
5. Follow the directions for the Joomla installation
If you don't have the ability to "extract" from your file manager, then you'll have to extract the files from the .zip first and then ftp them all up to public_html (public_html, httpdocs or something like that - ask your host if you don't see something like that.)
Hope this helps.

Re: Need help understanking Quickstart install
Thanks jgress
I did get through your #3 step. Extracted the file into public_html folder. But Step 4 just comes up with a 404 page not found. And while it is extracted in the public html folder, it still does not appear in the database.
So still needing help to get the rest of the way.

Re: Need help understanking Quickstart install
are you saying you can't get to thedomain.com/installation? you have to replace thedomain.com with your domain name. if you are building on a temporary url, you need to have that temp url and add /installation to the end of it.
do you see a directory in public_html that is called 'installation?' if not, then perhaps your template company's package is not working correctly.

Re: Need help understanking Quickstart install
First, here is the page of what I'm trying to do:
http://favthemes.com/tutorials-setup/60 ... start.html
When you wrote
""4. Go to yourdomain.com/installation", I thought you were referring to MY domain. But now I'm confused, as you now wrote "you have to replace thedomain.com with your domain name".
Annyway, I looked and there is no "installation" anywhere in my public_html.

Re: Need help understanking Quickstart install
Something is wrong with their quickstart package. Go back to them and tell them there is no installation directory and ask for them to look into it.
