How to upload the example?

Post by Alchemi » Tue Oct 14, 2014 4:17 pm

I've downloaded the JJYs example template as a .zip to my pc.

When I try uploading it using extennsion manager, it says that the Joomla XML file isn't present.

What should I do to upload it - it has the advantage of being basically what I want?

Can you please show us the link from where you downloaded the template and which particular example you are referring to. Older Joomla templates are not necessarily compatible with Joomla 3.x.

http://help.joomla.org/files/JJYs_Jooml ... _08_26.pdf

was what I read and downloaded.

I'm not exactly desperate to use that particular example. But it does have the pattern of page that I basically want, ie a header, a footer, a left hand-side panel for navigation menus and a main and right-hand side panel to put my articles in.

Most of the downloadable templates I've seen in the catalogs of stuff look wildly complicated for what I want to do, so I'm looking for a basic template I can get properly started with. The JJY example is just about precisely what I need, which is why I was trying to use that one.

If there is any other sensible suggestion I could follow, that would be great.

If you are after an reasonably basic template, have you tried Beez3, installed by default with Joomla?
