Error: 0 - Invalid scheme: '/g/'

Post by candhu » Wed Jan 28, 2015 9:36 am

Hi,

My Joomla 3.1.1 site has been working fine for over a year with little input required from me. However, today it has suddenly become unavailable and returns only an error page :-

"
Error: 0 - Invalid scheme: '/g/'

You may not be able to visit this page because of:

1. an out-of-date bookmark/favourite
2. a search engine that has an out-of-date listing for this site
3. a mistyped address
4. you have no access to this page
5. The requested resource was not found.
6. An error has occurred while processing your request.
"

The "/g/" in the above error message changes each time you refresh the page seemingly to a random single lowercase character between the forward-slashes. Does anyone have any clue as to what might have happened ?

Thanks,
candhu

Is your site unavailable also from the back end? Does your site use SSL?

Have you or anyone else made any changes to the site recently? If not, you may be dealing with an intrusion because of a vulnerable extension or some other security problem, in which case you should go to the Security forum and follow the instructions there: http://forum.joomla.org/viewforum.php?f=714

Your version of Joomla is also out of date, the latest version in the Joomla 3.x series is 3.3.6.

Thanks for your reply toivo.

My site is available from back-end and there have been no changes recently. It does not use SSL.

Which instructions should I follow to determine if it has had a security problem?

Cheers,
candhu

The Security forum has sticky posts at the top, including a list of best practices. There are also instructions what to do and how to post the results from the Forum Post Assistant (FPA) to the forum.

1. You have elevated Permissions (777). Flag folder 755 and files 644.
2. You are running an outdated version of Joomla. The current is 3.3.6.
3. The server does not have a proper configuration for running Joomla
PHP API: apache2handler (should be "cgi/fcgi" or run SUPhp)
This configuration will cause file/folder ownership/permission issues.

Thanks for the reply.

I have now updated to the latest version of Joomla, but still get the same issue. Do you know what may be causing the error message "Invalid Scheme" ?

For others reference, there is a duplicate question in the New to Joomla Forum.

http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=706&t=872055.

Moderator should have moved the question to the correct forum ??? :)

You should read what Per has written. Act and reply properly. The error you refer at shows that something is set to use SSL since it is the output of a decryption error or a disk error
