easysocial vs jomsocial
Hello Y'all,
I'would like to create a small community.
i'm looking around for the best 2 component to realise the community:
easysocial & jomsocial, but i can't make a choice.
Hopefully anyone can tell me the differences in features, user experience e.g.
i checked out the demo sites, and the features list.
They are almost the same exept:
easysocial:
+link with other stack-components
jomsocial:
+create groups (private & public)
But i don't see the real differences between the components.
Hope someone can help me to make a choise
Please add your comment, and i't would be nice if you share you community url .
Thanks

Re: easysocial vs jomsocial
Jomsocial is far more powerful I have installed jomsocial in several sites and I tried extensibly the demos site at easysocial
granted I would need to install easysocial too, not just try their demo
anyway
There is no video sharing and video commenting feature in easy social
no Facebook connect
Also Jomsocial has a lot of really powerful plugins that give extra power that easysocial doesn't have:
chat like the one in Facebook
no advanced people search based on cutomized fields, like for finding the right girl or boy romantically or whatever

@luespi
hi, i'm valuating the change from CB to jomsocial (or easysocial), sadly despite months of work on CB.
But there are someting worring me: i'm trying the 14 jomsocial trial, i experienced the Backoffice and what i found is an hard to customization environment, jomsocial is an awsome out-of-the-box social component, but if you want some "major editing" you're gonna have a bad time (as example i want to remove the profile "cover" too similar to facebook..).
As jomsocial customer, could you gently answer to those question?:
- my users will upload their resume of the site, i can't find a file upload plugin, there is one or not?
- i read some complaining about the timing of support, CB has a 24-48hours answer policy, what about jomsocial?your experience about that?
thanks in advance

Re: easysocial vs jomsocial
Easysocial is a complete powerful social component for Joomla. I have used and delivered both for clients.
Right now, there is nothing that my client need and easysocial does not include.
About their support... just see ratings and reviews

Re: easysocial vs jomsocial
EasySocial is about to get a lot cooler. Videos, polls, awesome profile-urls (site.com/name), Auto Completion custom field, smilies/photos in comments, and other goodies. If your a perfectionist like me, it takes some time finding every single issue out there (and believe me I spend hours hunting for them), the EasySocial guys will clear it up. Working with the StackIdeas team (not as a staff member, but rather a passionate customer) for me was the first time that I felt my suggestions went far and that these guys really are going to create the most awesome extension in Joomla history.
The most recent version of JomSocial certainly looks promising, however I have seen the rapid progress of EasySocial and am still continuing to see it. These guys will stay up til 3 a.m. working on issues and then wake up at 9:30 a.m. to take care of more issues followed by all day development. They don't settle for good enough, if you find a better method of handling something, you betcha it's going to be added. For me this is the most assuring reason of why I choose EasySocial over other extensions any day of the week.
Of course I love the work of other Joomla developers too like Kunena, NoNumber, Compojoom, Joomgallery, ect.

Re: easysocial vs jomsocial
Seeing posts like this from Jomsocial are really not encouraging:

The follow feature as many of you know allows us to friend some people, but listen in on specific people for seeing activity. To say this is unimportant disregards an important aspect of two of the most popular social media sites out there (Twitter and Facebook).I just wondering, since we have frontpage which you can see all public post there, so the follow feature is not really important in jomsocial

Re: easysocial vs jomsocial
I have used Community Builder, JomSocial and EasySocial and Joomla since 2005. CB and Jomsocial have progressed well the latest years but my absolutely favourite is EasySocial for the overall quality of functions, features and support compared to the others. If you also looking for a bloggin and comment plattform integration EasyBlog and Komento is great quality products as well.
The dev team progress things rapidly and is aware of its customers and users. Just go there and you will see the support interaction that is great.
You can also get discounts and package deals there. The only product from them I dont like is EasyDiscuss...have no hiearchiacl structure for finding what you looking for. Even I bought it I have never used it. Prefer Kuena then..

StackIdeas support is miles ahead of iJoomla. That alone is reason enouth to choose EasySocial over JomSocial.
