PKI federated authentication

A growing number of commercial and government sites require the use of PKI authentication defined by standards such as US FIPS 201 and ISO 29115. the PKI is frequently federated using a PKI bridge. Is there anybody who has been able to set up a Joomla site using PKI or PKI federation for strong authentication? Thanks.
