Permissions of media manager folders

Post by gymvago » Wed Jan 28, 2015 3:17 pm

Hello. I have a question about folder of images in "media manager". All authors with permissions for submitting articles in frontend have access all root images folder (media manager), and i only want they have access to especific folder within /images, not all. I do not know how to configure this issue. It is possible?
Thanks.

You can install a editor like JCE and set up profiles and also config that users have their own media folder privately $username

see this video http://youtu.be/eAJZ9In8drk

JCE free editor to dl https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/

Here is the settings https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/sup ... ctory-path

ie
...
The path can contain the following variables -

$id - Will be replaced with the user ID
$username - Will be replaced with the user username
$usertype - Will be replaced with the user usertype eg: author
$profile - Will be replaced with the profile name
$group - Will be replaced with the profile name
$year - Will be replaced with current year, eg: 2010
$month - Will be replaced with current month number, eg: 06
$day - Will be replaced with the day number, eg: 10

- but must always start with an existing, static path eg: images/$usertype not $usertype/$username
The folder will be created if it does not exist.
...

subscription give you access to extended media mgr etc too so give it a try..

Checked with Peter there and it should be possible to set users(groups) per predefined content templates.

Meaning that you can have many templates that are filled in with your customized text/pics for different users(groups) per defined ACL settings. To have more control of your ACL you can also use this great addon http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions ... cl-manager
