Backend asks user's password to change "Assigned User Groups"

Post by Rik Brown » Tue Nov 02, 2021 9:39 pm

When I'm in the backend and wish to change a user's "Assigned User Groups" I'm always asked for the password of the user when I try to save any changes.

I don't remember it always being like this.

Is there some setting I've got wrong that won't allow me to save changes there without knowing the user's password?

Thanks. -- Rik

I don't have this issue on my J! 3.10.3 website. When I go to the User manager, select a target account and locate the Assigned User Groups tab and check one (or more) checkboxes and press Save, I'm not asked for the user's password.

Yes, unfortunately, my problem (also J! 3.10.3) is that is does ask for a password.

See the attachment. If I don't enter a password, I can't save any changes.

What happens if you just clear the password field or fields? The browser may have filled in automatically a password. your own saved password.

You are right! The browser was trying to fill in a password on the first password line.

Case solved. Thanks. -- Rik
