No upgrade to Joomla 4 from site with J3

Post by ENrico62 » Thu Feb 01, 2024 2:45 pm

Hi, previously on a J 3 site I saw the possibility of upgrading to J 4, now I don't.
All Joomla plugins related to the update are active and there are no problems with the DB (other sites with the same settings, I have updated them). Does anyone know why this happens?
Thanks for your help

Mod. Note: Relocated topic to the Upgrade Forum.

Are you on the Joomla Next Channel? Check the Options in the Upgrade Component.

Hi, I can't update because, despite the settings (system and version progress) it doesn't show me anything, it only show me that Joomla is updated to the latest version 3!

SOLVED
For some strange reason, by deactivating and reactivating related plugins and extensions a few times, you see the possibility of updating (migrating) to J 4
Thanks anyway for your interest

Don't forget to use Akeeba before you attempt the update

I'm working with a test site but thanks for the suggestion, I agree, it's always better to have a backup (also of the DB)

Even a test site should be backed up. Akeeba backs up the whole site, files and database

To be safe, I always prefer to download the DB separately, I have been working with Joomla since 2006 (J 1.5) and it is my habit to do so.
Have a nice day

Each to their own. Myself I prefer not to save the database separate to the files because it is (with several sites and backups) it is more difficult to match files and sql at a later date. My preference is to have the whole site in one installable .jpa file.

Good luck
