Edits to Purity 3 template files

I currently use Purity 3 on a few websites and generally need to make a couple of parameter changes to get spacing between the various modules to where I want them or change a font. This is easy to do by finding the file to be edited using the inspection tools and making the necessary edits. However when a new template update comes along I have to repeat these changes. Can someone point me at a tutorial on what I need to do so that my edits are permanent? I have used Joomla for over 10 years but never really got to grips with what I assume are overrides. Thanks

Usually CSS changes are added to the file templates/purity_iii/css/custom.css.

Please note that Purity III is a Joomla 3 template. Joomla 3.10.12 is the last version of Joomla 3.x and therefore it is unlikely that Purity III is going to get updates. Once you decide to update the website to Joomla 4, you need a new template. Of course Joomla Cassiopeia template is an option and there is for example JA Purity IV.

Thanks for that information I will try paying with the custom.css file as you suggest. Actually my websites are already on Joomla 4 and Purity 3 still works OK and is still getting updates.
